Goodreads rating: 2*

I was committed to giving this two stars throughout the book until around the last thirty pages when things finally picked up, but I still would have only given it a 2.5 rating overall. This was another book I received through my 'A Box of Stories' subscription and to be quite honest, I didn't really think that there was much point to it.

Skye as a character had very few redeeming qualities and would definitely be classed as a stalker - I appreciate she was feeling a little bit heartbroken, but apart from the embarrassment of getting found out in the end, there weren't really any consequences to her actions. Her behaviour was obsessive, especially considering the short time in which she had known Johnny, and there seemed to be lot going on with various other characters which had minimal explanation throughout the book.

The only character I really related to or even remotely liked in this book was Tam, and we certainly didn't see enough of her - Skye could have really used some of her level-headedness. As I say, the story did pick up a little towards the end, but then everything seemed to happen in quick succession and I'd already made an educated guess as to what the twist would be.

As far as debut novels go, this one wasn't anything to write home about and despite it being classed as a mystery thriller, it didn't really fit the genre in my opinion.
